That's all that's left until I see my man again. It's so hard. To think that there's a year's left of space between us becomes unbearable. However, today my momma gave me a wonderful present. She used to live in Mexico in the 70s. She acquired these leather and beaded wrap things. She gave them to me today; I think she was inspired by my meager leather string tied around my brow. These tasseled little beauties turned my 1/16 Native American blood into at least 80%.
June 30: A Fortnight
June 29: Lessons in Bravery
I knew this day would come: the first Sexie Time! 2 piece. Here it is - almost. I'll be braver with a tan.
June 23: Back to Basics
So begins the regime: Wake up. make breakfast. feed the bird. take momma to radiation then once a week to chemo. make lunch. make snack. feed the dogs. make dinner. drink wine. good night.
CMYK
I took all of these photos within mintues of each other and didn't realize the color scheme until after I uploaded them. And, there's a lady in a wheelchair at the top of the yellow shot. Greatness.

June 22: Bye My Baby
Tyler has to go back to Salt Lake today and that makes me VERY upset. I'm really sad, but I know that I have to be out here in California for a reason. Now, if I could only get a day off and get to the beach! At least he got to eat a nice brunch.

June 19: On the Road (Again)
Moving. I hate it. Bleh. Also, I had the great opportunity to move through the desert in during the hottest of weeks. We drove all night long. We pulled over on an Indian (Moapa) reservation and slept for an hour. Tyler is the best. OH! and, I successfully transported my 2 goldfish, Tiger and Tigre, 700 miles! They are also the best.
June 18: Packing with a Pre-Departure Partay
Heather's hideout is pretty amazing. the girls all got together and caused some trouble on the lawn while some of the girls shared their stories of love and lust in the Dominican Republic, others told stories of boring heres and theres about Salt Lake. Tomorrow it's back to Cali.

June 17: I Do!
OH NO! Ok, so I have a wonderful excuse for not posting a sexie time! photo today. I got engaged and completely spaced taking the daily photo! Please forgive me? I was wearing a black skirt and black shirt from the MoMA. I promise. So, more about getting hitched.
Tyler and I were up at the University painting a supplemental mural for the department and it was getting late, I was getting tired, and I wanted to go home. So, while I was washing brushes, Tyler was scribbling, "Danielle, Will You Marry Me?", on the wall. I said yes, hugs and kisses and then a little bit of 'ouch ouch you're getting paint in my hair.'
Were in love and I think that's great. He proposed with a simple gold band with a garnet sunken into the band. (sigh)

Summer and Missing the Place I Call Home
This video reminds me of Summer and "Home" and the kickball sessions of last summer. Yeah, I know they're playing baseball - tomato tomahto. Also, this video reminds me that home is where the heart is and that Salt Lake is all around us, even when we aren't there.
"Urban Masquerade"
Here is a video/slideshow of the mural I helped paint. Play it with sound.

June 15: Happy Father's Day
Today I hung out with Tyler's family.
Tyler's cute nephew, Ender, and his mom Carly. Tyler's brother, Tim, is a first time Dad!
June 14: Flag Day
Oh sweet weekend. I think we drank all of the sake in salt lake tonight. And these shoes are the WORST bicycling shoes, ever.

June 13: Friday the 13th
I had a relatively uneventful Friday the 13th. Save for the fact that I got REALLY sunburned through my mesh top.
June 12: Sick of Wearing Painting Clothes
Painting the mural again. I've been wearing the same damn clothes painting this mural, so tonight, I shall wear heels! Damn it!

June 9: Temporary California
I'm in California today and tomorrow to look after my mom. I suppose I've felt strange talking about the state of my family via this blog, but I think since it has become such a defining stroke in life events - I should explain. However, I must state that my reservations on discussing all things family come from a strong catholic background of "hush hush" sensibilities.
My mom has lung cancer. She's going through the necessary steps to try and cure herself, however, the road is long. She goes to radiation every week day and chemo once a week to help boost the radiation's effectiveness. When the radiation stops (the end of July) the full on chemo begins. My mother is a strong individual who has survived and endured things in life I can only imagine. She truly is a ct with 9 lives. I'm convinced she's only on her 6th life, so, I know she's got at least 3 more.
Having cancer is seemingly quite common, but when you try to find information, it's not as easy as you'd think. My mom is a very personal person and likes to keep her business private, so going to suppor tgroups and things like that is out of the question. If anyone has any hints on how to make her eat more, that would be amazing. She's such a finiky eater to begin with, it's hard to get her to eat the recommended, every 2 hours.
I am moving back home to California to care for her and split the responsibility of taking her to her appointments and making her eat and just being there for her. It's a really hard decision for me to make since I love Salt Lake City and everyone I have grown to love there. I love the wilderness of Utah and I know that places with freedom in their vein exist out here too, I'll just have to look a little further than my backyard. I suppose I can temporarily trade the mountains for the ocean, at least for a little while.
June 8: Apres Camping BBQ
I have some really amazing friends, and with my departure nearing, I am feeling more and more sentimental; hence, cheesy group shots.

June 7: Holy Long Time
SO, an obscene amount of time has passed since my last post. 16 days to be exact. However, since this post will be before all subsequent posts, you'll never know. Or, maybe you will. Who knows?
We went camping for the weekend. Oh sweet outside.

June 6: With Running Shoes!? Who Knew!
Still painting. However, today I found running shoes in my closet - seriously? running shoes? whatever. I don't run, but these came in handy. Also, painting a mural really does give your upper body a workout. I took a nap on a concrete floor today; that's how exhausting this is.
June 5: Prepared Like Pancho Villa
It rained today, again. However, I came equipped with pancho. Also, today I learned that a white wall can sunburn your face, even under cloudy skies.
June 4: Murals Abound!
Today some University kids and I started painting a 100' x 12' mural in Salt Lake. It's going to be pretty cool. My arms are already tired. Also, it rained almost all day. I can't complain - I love the rain. Even if it means I have to paint in it all day long. I wore lots of layers, as you can see below:
