Self-portraits are such an amazing thing. To see yourself in the most detached way possible. Then to think, "who is this person?" "do i find this person interesting? attractive? beautiful?" You know, I know about as much as it is to look at myself from the outside as it is to know what it is like to be a bat. The face becomes a symbolic reference for the rest of the world to be able to classify and identify. So, what happens when you spend a lifetime trying to figure out what, exactly, it is that the rest of the world sees as 'you'?
Above are two self-portraits I've taken. Both are very different to me. Both are me, but I wonder if one of them is more me that the other. Or, is that even possible?
The Roots of a Scream

Murder
(Two early morning voices on Riverside Drive)
“How did it happen?”
“A cut on the cheek.”
That’s all!
A nail that presses the stem.
A pin that dives in
until it finds the roots of the scream.
And the sea stops moving.
“How did it happen?”
“Just like that.”
“Stop it! Like that?”
“Yes.”
The heart came out on its own.
“Oh my!”
-Federico García Lorca
They Keep Telling Me to Hold onto the Pain: It's the Only Thing I Have That Feels Real

Hospitals & airplanes breathe the same air. Be it forced. Be it unreal. Be it beneath. Unpleasant pillows jammed into the cracks, and blankets. The only difference between nurses and flight attendants is that a flight attendant only charges $5 for wine, and the cost of opium has since gone up.
Air sickness - Cancer sickness.
Sickness is Sickness.

"And Now That The Battle Is Done
And You Wake Up In The Morning
With The Sun Up In The Sky
Summer Never Gives You No Warning Then
Flowers Are Getting Thrown Up To Cover The Mud Up On The Line
Valleys Getting Greener And There's
Nothing But Love On Your Mind"

May 18: Forever in Blue Jeans

Money talks
But it don't sing and dance
And it don't talk
As long as I can have you here with me
Id much rather be
Forever in blue jeans...
I Know Everything

So, Levi and Adam Sherlock invited me on the "I Know Everything" podcast. Basically, when it come to pop trivia, these guys do know. ever.e.thing. I think I taught them a thing or two about the nuances of ladydom. I probably came across as a pretentious bitch-ass-ho. Ho Well. I'll post the episode when it gets published.

Spock is hot. Zachary Quinto has been a hot favorite of mine since being a fan of heroes. But seriously, Spock? Hot? Hot Damn. I think what makes Spock hot to women is the fact that he is completely their opposite: rational. His editorial shoot in GQ is smokin'. Love a man in a nice suit.

And You Were Everything

I miss you momma. The pain is paralyzing in moments. To think that you had your life and now I have mine and there is nothing between besides everything considered a 'we'. I loved we, I loved us. We were amazing. You: my mother, my muse. Me: pieces of you, falling apart, coming back together again - I wish you could see me, the completed me, the entirety of 'we'.
The Colors Drool Out Romanticism

I am really in love with the colors in this photo shoot. Click and enjoy.

I am enjoying these looks for fall. I know it's nothing super crazy or new or anything, but I like the texture and richness in subtle moments. Also, I like that even though the looks is very of-the-now, it's also timeless; I could imagine wearing these looks for a long long time. And the shoes. Love the shoes.
