Bat for Lashes
I'm not expecting this to be new news, or any kind of news, for that matter. However, I've liked this group for some time, and tonight, for some reason (perhaps the raccoons in the trees, or the fact that this video must have been filmed in topanga, or the wilderness in general, I've been listening to this):
July 19: Museum or Bust!
Today, Tyler and My Dad and I went museuming. We went to the Petersen Auto Museum (where Biggie was shot) and then to the new J. Paul Getty. wow. Amazing. To see amazing sculptures, mainly of Venus; and to see the great works of Monet, Degas, Goya, and a lot of 17th century painters, amazing. We needed an entire day just for the 2nd floor. There was also an awesome exhibit of landscape/industrial/structural photography of Hilla and Bernd Becher:

At the Getty (I thought I fit in well with the scenery):
I found it odd that she only had 1 shoe painted in. But it's an amazing shoe in any case:

I usually hate still lifes. I love this one:
I have new found love for love Degas:
July 18: Hello Baby!!!

Finally Tyler is here. Also, my Dad is in town. Today, we circumnavigated all of my dad's old stomping grounds: from Malibu to Mullholland, to Toanga Canyon, and back.
July 17: Beach Greatness

Here I am with stripes and stripes again. It was such a beautiful beach day. I pity all those who don't live near a gorgeous swimming beach.
July 16: Cinderellie, Clean Cinderellie
Project Runway
Yeah, OK, so I watched some tv last night, namely, Project Runway. All I can say is, Kelli's dress kicked ass. She was the only one to think of a material as something that can be altered. DUH! What the hell were all of these "designers" doing in a store buying table cloths? Hellooo. . . Kelli was the only one with the smarts to know that a grocery store also sells dye and bleach and other things to alter a material's current condition. She also used the gold thumb tacks and the spiral notebook. I think it was a well deserved accolade. However, I also, very much so, liked the girl who used a dodge ball for a bodice. I thought that dress was hot. Suede need s to get the boot - soon.
Kelli's creation is in this video below at the 2:28 mark. And, the crochet mop top was pretty awesome too.
FYI: George W. Bush Does NOT Have a Magic Wand

Let's just deplete all of the resources of the US and the world in a quest for oil. Consumers are adjusting by buying more fuel efficient cars because WE HAVE TO. guaranteed, if the US still had an abundance of oil, America would use it and would still be driving 1960 Cadillacs and H3 Hummers. Fuck Bush, Fuck using Anwar, Fuck offshore drilling, Fuck Hummers. Fuck. Ride a Bicycle.
The Melvins!? At Amoeba?! YES!
One of my favorite bands is playing at my favorite music stores tomorrow. I hope I can sneak out and go see them. Viva la Internet!
I can't find the photos from the melvins show I shot a few years ago, but I found a Big Business shot, which equates to some of the members of the Melvins' current line-up:
Record Review: Hold Steady
So, the Hold Steady have released a new album, Stay Positive, which I find slightly annoyingly coincidental, considering my current situation. However, I am thankful for such an omen. I really like this album. I feel it is doing what a band should do - progress and continue. I feel their sound is the same, yet they've added elements of dazzle for distinction. Bravo. I couldn't find an awesome video, so you'll have to settle for this lame montage of their new song, "Construction Summer". Which, I'm sure a lot of my friends can relate too, and I can too.
July 14: Out on the Steps of Stress
Life is rough. Stress sucks and being a nervous person by nature doesn't help a thing. I hate being away from Tyler. I hate that my mom is sick. I hate that I can't be here any longer. I hate that I can't be in Salt Lake sooner. I hate that I have to wait till Wednesday to find out if I get the apartment I want. I hate that I have to wait till Friday to see Tyler. HATE HATE HATE. I need to turn everything around into love. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I need some peace. Until then I'll have to WAIT WAIT WAIT.
my momma made this shirt.
Remeberance of Things Past
Today I went through some drawers and found some old photos. I suppose I'll go in order chronologically:
1928. Great Grandma and some really tough looking lady. Great G ma is on the right with the fox fur:
1929. Grandma Tillie is the one in front/right with the smirk. Now I know who I get that from:
1943. My mom and my Grandma Tillie and Grandpa John:
1945. Christmas. My mom and Santa:
1970 something. Mom in Mexico. Holy Hotness:
1981. Mom and baby me:
1984 Mom and hell raiser me:
and for laughs. My very first Sexie Time photo (Jan 20, 1981):
July 11: More Yellow Than Eva
I've noticed that there has been an influx in the color yellow in my wardrobe as of late. Perhaps, it's to make up for all the gloom.
July 9: Black and White While Riding a Bike
Tonight Jody and I rode bikes! Yes! I had a little bit of a flat scare, but it was just me being weird. Our friend from high school/middle school days, Nathan Ziv, hung out and had some margaritas too. Good ol' catching up was had.

July 8: Just Trying to Stay At Peace
Things I want:
- momma to feel happy and peaceful
- to be with my love
- solo to have a kick ass leg again
- to ride my bicycle
- a new road bike
- sweet dreams
July 5: Negra Modelo and the CCU
My momma was transferred to the CCU because of hypotension, which is annoying, because it's holding up the diagnosis of whatever is wrong with her brain. I'm seriously considering going to med school and counting all of my family's medical history as transfer credits. I'm certain I'd at least enter as a senior.
keeping Tilly company:
July 4: Fireworks From the 6th Floor Hospital Window
My mother, as it stands, is a neurological mystery. My sister and I sat on the edge of my mother's hospital bed and watched all of the firework displays that spanned the entire San Fernando Valley, all the while her neurologist tried to explain all the possible causes of my mother's state. We all agreed that it was like being in an episode of House.
Here's to Alex and our evening:
and, while I'm so hot on posting youtube videos, I must include this performance from Antony as well. Genius.
July 3: The Constantines and Other Things
Today was sort of hard. Mom had a really bad day. I mean, really bad day. Anyway, I figure I still need to take care of myself as well. I've been wanting to see the Constantines since I heard they would be in town. So, I met up with Jody and her friend who is moving back to Belgium for some appetizers and wine at Dominick's and then we went to the Troubadour and saw the band. What a great show. Good time, good sounds, and they played my favorite song for an encore. They also did an entire tour bus medley of the Rolling Stones to close it all out. It was very nice.
One thing I did notice is the striking influx of paparazzi since I last lived here. It's out of control. Every corner of Los Angeles is infested with them.

also, the whole bluetooth only law has been put into place in california - so, i am equipped with headphones - i refuse to go bluetooth.
July 2: Fuck You
Is what I said to a certain someone earlier. God, someone just cut off my tongue now. I can't hold back some things some times. I still feel the same, but I wish my sharp tongue could be dulled.
In other news, today was a glorious day. The sun was shining in a good way, my best friend came home from China, and we took a swim in the ocean. Greatness.
Also, I cleaned out my pack from the last camping trip - a month ago. This was the content of my jacket pocket. Classic:
